Easter is coming up soon. I’ve noticed the deals the week before and the week of a holiday are typically not quite as good. Hey, the store knows you’re buying fresh rolls once it gets you in the door, so it concentrates on good deals on the big essentials, like the ham, and doesn’t worry too much about the extras that are typically on sale. So, if you aren’t seeing deals you like this week, don’t panic. The week after Easter, they’ll be back!

Speaking of ham, Giant smoked shank ham portions are 49 cents a pound, smoked butt ham portions are 59 cents a pound and spiral halves are 99 cents a pound. There’s a limit of two hams.

Martin’s is doing another week of coupon days. I’m not terribly excited about a lot of them, but there are a few okay deals going on. Before I went into the deals, though, I wanted to mention a few tips for people who aren’t familiar with the store:

• Sign up for the email newsletter. Sometimes, there are coupons in there that aren’t available at the store kiosk.
• Check the store kiosk every week for new coupons. The 50 cents off Nature Made products coupon is great for getting organic baby food for a few cents a jar or organic canned beans for around 30 cents.
• Don’t be afraid to use internet coupons. Martin’s is happy to take them, as long as they don’t say free or buy one get one free.
• Take advantage of double coupons. Martin’s doubles coupons up to 99 cents and sometimes has special doubler coupons in the sales circular that allow you to double dollar coupons.
